Quick Data for ISBE's FY2025 RFP

The Illinois State Board of Education has released its request for proposals for Preschool for All, Preschool for All Expansion, and Prevention Initiative programs for FY2025. This RFP is only for new grantees or existing programs that want to serve more children outside Chicago.

Data from the IECAM database

IECAM has put together an Excel sheet (see below) of data from the IECAM database for the state’s 757 elementary and unit school districts. This includes data mentioned in the RFPs.

  • Number of children served at the local Head Start (2023).
  • Number of children who reside in homes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (2020 and 2022 ACS five-year estimates). The first few columns provide the totals for ages 3 and 4 for 2020 and 2022. Later columns have numbers for individual ages and ages 5 and under for both years.
  • The number and percent of limited English-speaking households for both those speaking Spanish and other languages (grouped together) for 2020 and 2022. Note this data is for households, not children.

A limited English-speaking household is one in which no member 14 years old and over (1) speaks only English or (2) speaks a non-English language and speaks English “very well.” In other words, all members 14 years old and over have at least some difficulty with English.

Numbers highlighted in green in the second column of the Excel spreadsheet are the number of slots needed for that district that appears on ISBE’s list of preschool deserts.
