The map below is one of many IECAM helped create for Erikson Institute‘s recent Risk and Reach Report. It shows child care costs as a share of median family income in 2016 by county.

According to the Risk and Read Report, Illinois ranks eighth among states for the most expensive infant care. In addition, only a quarter of Illinois residents spent less than 10% of their income on child care. Only Mason County had child care costs considered affordable by The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services standards.
