City of Chicago Announces Early Childhood Integrated Data System
Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot has announced the launch of the Chicago Early Childhood Integrated Data System (CECIDS). Beginning this summer, the system will bring together data from across systems and programs in a cloud-based environment to create a citywide view of the early childhood education landscape. The system will allow for citywide and neighborhood-level analyses and program-specific dashboards to serve families, program administrators, funders, advocates, and policymakers.
The system is being developed in partnership with Northern Illinois University, Chicago Public Schools, the Department of Family and Support Services, Carole Robertson Center for Learning, Chicago Commons, Henry Booth House, EasterSeals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford, Start Early, and Third Sector Intelligence (3Si). It builds on foundational investments by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and Crown Family Philanthropies to modernize the city's data infrastructure.
