The Collaborative for Children’s Health Policy, a new statewide collaborative dedicated to achieving child health equity in Illinois, has announced three initiatives as part of their policy framework. These initiatives focus on access to care, mental health and the underlying social factors that impact health.
According to a recent WTTW article, the group plans to focus its efforts on homelessness among children and pregnant women as part of their initiative looking at underlying social factors that impact health. However, a potential barrier to addressing this issue is a lack of data. The group is hoping to gather this data from state agencies or through mandated screenings when a child or family seeks care.
