Special Education: Young Students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

About the data

Students who receive services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Each student who is found eligible for special education and related services receives an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that specifies supplemental services, accommodations, modifications, and supports to enable the student to be involved in, and make progress in, the general education curriculum. There are 14 disability areas, ranging from autism to visual impairment. Schools follow a process mandated by law in identifying students’ disabilities and then developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
