Birth characteristics are: Low Birth Weight (<2,500 grams); Very Low Birth Weight (<1,500 grams); Preterm (<37 weeks); Cesarean Section, Adequate Prenatal Care (Kotelchuck); Births to Unmarried Mothers; Births to Mothers Age 20+ Who Are Not High School Graduates (some characteristics are not available for some years)
